Vintage: Roller Derby Girls

I've started taking a roller derby class at the beginning of July. It's A LOT harder than it looks. Skating is still something I'm trying to get good at every time I'm on the track. I'd really like to try out for it at the end of the year, but I'm thinking I'm going to wait, take the same course over again and the intermediate course after that, and then I'll see where my skill level is at. It's definetly something I'll have to practice everyday, but with this heat, I think I'm just going to have to wait until it cools down a bit.

Roller derby was always something I've been interested in. What girl doesn't want to kick ass, have fun, and make friends with a diverse group of strong girls? If you haven't been to a bout yet, you need to get to one!

Interior Tuesdays: Found Objects

@Designsponge.com

I really like the idea of using found objects to build an interesting piece of furniture. I haven't really been able to do any sort of decorating since Aaron and I have moved in to the apartment, and we probably wont get around to it while we're living here, but I've been gathering images of decorating ideas that I like. We've already decided that we'd like to buy a lot of taxidermy, especially butterflies and insects in shadow boxes. I'd like to have a wall full of them! Maybe even a bat or two. We are living in Austin after all. I'll post some of the pieces that I would like to buy. I'll probably start collecting little things here and there before we move into our next place (a place closer to the city, close enough that I can ride my bike and not have to pay for parking just to go to work. ugh!). I def. want to decorate the next place.

And that's where this wall comes in. I love it! It reminds me of the wall in Home Slice. Aaron and I haven't been there in awhile, but whenever I'm there, I always admire the way they have it decorated. Anyway, this wall wouldn't be too hard to do, even in a rental. We would just need to frame it out on the wall (so we're not putting a ton of holes everywhere), find some found wood via craigslist and the curb, and we could put this thing together and have a regular white wall turn into a piece of art and interest!

Last week, I started my second job, back at Urban Outfitter's for the forth time! I'm hoping to move up to team lead ASAP and making that place a permanent thing for awhile. In the mean time, I'll still be working at the restaurant and hopefully I can get my own personal creative project off the ground within the next year, once I finally get on my feet (for once since the move). It's been pretty rough, but every month I make it by, I'm really proud and appreciative of everything. I can honestly say that, despite all of the financial hardship I've endured, I'm 110% happy with the decision I made to move out here and I appreciate everyday. =)
